The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus was in town this past weekend! We went when Colton was three and we have not been back. We decided to go Saturday. We had a great time!!! Colton really enjoyed the show!
Cheapest Souvenir we could find!
Yes, we were in the "cheap seats"!
But.... the boys were ready with their binoculors!
Rarely do we have a picture of all three of us!
I will have to write a disclaimer about the elephants at the bottom of this post!
Great Show!
Vinnie's in City Market for pizza after the show! Nothing better!!!
Elephants: There were people protesting when we were going in about how the circus people treat the elephants. It was awkward for me. I am not used to being in the "midst of controversy". Don't know much about it, but it did make me sad. All these little kids were going in, excited about seeing the show and the protesters were asking you to reconsider going in. I think maybe they could find a different way??? I don't know.... maybe I am wrong!
One Ring: I remember going to the circus with Debbie, Robbie and their girls a long time ago and there were 3 rings. Now there is only one ring. In a way, it disappoints me, but then you really can see everything this way. When there were 3 rings, you didn't know what to look at sometimes:)
Blessing: At Vinnie's, we bowed our heads and Rod said the normal blessing, "God is great....." Then Colton chimed in and said and "Thank you for letting Mom and Dad take me to the circus!" Memories:)!!
I had to "record" this for my memories and figured this was the best way to do it!
Monday was MLK, Jr. holiday and Colton and I were off from school. Rod was at work. We were sitting at the counter eating our breakfast.
Colton looked at me and said: I dumped my girlfriend!
I said: Really, that is sad, was she sad?
C: No, she doesn't even know! (Like, are you crazy mom???)
Me: Did she even know she was your girlfriend?
C: NO!
And we both just laughed!!!!
Memories!
Rod keeps telling me to relax! When the song by Trace Adkins "You're Gonna to Miss This" comes on the radio, he says that it is for me! I don't want to regret, I want to live in the moment, I want to enjoy (as much as I can:) EVERY moment! Because, I know: One day, I won't get to have these kind of conversations, and I will MISS IT!! I am going to want it back!
Tybee has had a Polar Bear Plunge for the last 10+ years. I was reading the "history" of the event in the Tybee Breeze. It started with a few locals, and now it has turned into this!
Rod and Colton did it a few years back and Donna was with us. It was really cold that day. This year, it was much warmer!
The Guiness Book of World Record Event was the most people wearing swim caps in one area. So, now I have done it! I am in the Guinness Book of World Records:) Well, probably not my name, but I did participate:) Colton participated in a Cup Stacking event this fall that was also in the Guinness Book of World Records!
I don't like cold water! I took pictures at first, but then Rod convinced me that "I could do it"! So after the splashing masses of people got out, I went in and went under!!! Very fast! Fun times:)
Relaxing in the hot tub afterwards is pretty nice too:)!! It was a great New Year's weekend!
We spent New Year's weekend at Tybee. Tybee is one of the neatest places that I have ever been able to experience on a regular basis. It has neat restaurants, shops, etc.... Nothing is a chain, it is all unique! I LOVE IT THERE! The Wadley's went with us and we had a great time! We got there Friday night and went to Stingrays! Then Saturday morning, of course, we hit up The Breakfast Club! On Saturday afternoon, Keeli and I took a walk with the boys on their scooters and Casey in tow. She showed me which house was used for The Last Song. I thought that I knew which one it was, but I was wrong. Sidenote: she stalked Miley Cyrus while it was being filmed:) We then went to a park for the boys to play. We stayed gone for over 2 hours and Scott and Rod LOVED it:) Dinner at AJ's and then fireworks on the beach at midnight!! I was asleep, Rod came and woke me up. I begged him to just let me sleep, but of course he wouldn't, and once I was out there, I was glad he didn't. I love fireworks! Then back to bed to get ready for the POLAR PLUNGE!! Next post!!!
Our t-shirts for paticipating! They turned it in to an "official" event, a fundraiser and we got to participate in a Guinness Book of World Record event.
Ben posing with all the new shirts!
Keeli and I in the AJ's chair!
On the beach at midnight!
Another beach shot!
And Rod took a ton of fireworks shots! I loved them all, but I will only post a few:)
